About Hijikata Toushizou
PERSONALITY:
Izuminokami Kanesada is famous because he was one of Hijikata Toshizou's swords. This is something you have to know about him because this is what a lot of his personality is based on. Being the youngest sword, Izuminokami comes off as someone who is still trying to figure it all out. He wants to figure out exactly how to be the greatness that was his first master. Not that he doesn't already think he's amazing. After all, he introduces himself as being cool and strong and oh, he's pretty popular lately!
It's easy to see Izuminokami as all good looks and brawn. Most would probably think that's all there is to him, but he's much more intelligent than most would give him credit for. His ego may be big, but even he knows he still has room to grow. Amazing as he may be right now, there's still ways for him to become even better. Shown when he spars with Horikawa, his partner, he studies how he can improve. After all, as Izuminokami says “Just being practical doesn't look good. Just looking pretty isn't useful. So, I focus on both.” Izuminokami wants to be the best possible sword he can be and he knows he can get there, hell he's probably close already, but there's always room for growth. Even when you give him equipment, he shows he cares about how well it can be used. His mission right now is to make sure history is not changed and even when Horikawa points out that they could save their first master from dying, prevent their future suffering, Izuminokami passionately says they can't do that. Even if he does cry about it, even if it hurts, he has a responsibility.
As mentioned before, his first master was Hijikata Toshizou, someone who was known to be a charming which is a big reason why Izuminokami acts so boisterous. His master was great and someone who he should be like, but Izuminokami comes off more like he's trying to be the idealized version of this man. Much like Hijikata was always noticed by people, Izuminokami wants the same for himself. He's always searching for attention and hoping people are taking notice of him. He even questions if you, his master, are possibly charmed by him. Everything he says, he wants it to grab the attention of everybody around him. When he drops a line, he'll probably be looking around to see who he may have charmed.
Of course, being young, he's got his issues which are more than just his ego. First of all? He hates chores as does any other teenager and he'll openly complain about them. If there's no way for him to get out of it and no choice, he'll sigh and do it. If he wants to be better then sometimes there's responsibilities you must take. But that still doesn't mean he won't try to find a way out of it and hope if he complains enough someone might just change their mind. But if he does have a responsibility he'll take it seriously. Secondly? When he isn't trying to impress someone he's a hot blooded punk who needs to learn better manners. Oh, he's perfectly charming when he wants to be. But if he doesn't? Don't take it personally if he's being impolite to you. It isn't you, it's entirely him. And if he's suddenly losing his temper it's just because he's emotional. Don't even be surprised if you suddenly see him tear up if something gets him riled up enough. He's just young and growing up. Growing pains are to be expected but he'll find his way there.
So who is Izuminokami Kanesada? A cool and strong sword, of course!
POWERS/ABILITIES:
As a tsukumogami, Izuminokami is stronger than any human being. His body is that of the sword and as long as his sword withstands, so does he which means he can take a lot of damage as long as the sword itself does not break.
Izuminokami is an uchigatana, basically the all-rounder of the different types of the swords. They're known to be used with speed and able to cut with one strike, though Izuminokami is actually pretty damn slow. This is because he was a tachi in the game before being changed to an uchigatana, which also explains why Izuminokami is really strong and could be considered one of the strongest uchigatanas. Also since he was originally a tachi sword in the game, he has high leadership qualities which basically makes him a natural leader.
